Geelong Giving Tree Appeal

In November/December 2022, Benefit Geelong sponsored the Geelong Giving Tree Appeal.

Launched in 2020 by Bethany Community Support, in collaboration with Barwon Child Youth & Family (BCYF) and The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre (The SAFV Centre), The Geelong Giving Tree Appeal calls upon the Geelong community to donate funds to provide gift cards to families and individuals within our community who need a helping hand. The recipients of these gift cards are families and individuals from community agencies in Geelong and includes people experiencing family violence and sexual assault, financial and mental health issues, homelessness, gambling harm and other family relationship hardships.

In 2022, through the support of generous donors and partners, the Appeal raised more than $118,000, enabling more than 3,000 gift cards to be distributed to individuals and families in need across our community. These gift cards enablede and empowered families and individuals living in Barwon, with the means to purchase Christmas gifts/food for their loved ones and share in the joy of Christmas.

Sponsorship amount: $10,000

The Geelong Giving Tree Appeal connects and focuses on our local community’s wellbeing at what can be a particularly stressful time of year.

It’s an Appeal with a long history of supporting Geelong, this year celebrating it’s 22 year anniversary. The Appeal aligns with Benefit Geelong’s commitment to supporting the Geelong community’s health and wellbeing and to enhance the life of local residents. Run across a six week period, the Appeal connect community, businesses, schools and other community members to come together for a single purpose – to support people and families within the Greater Geelong region who may be needing a little extra help at Christmas.
